"Take someone along for free" rules
If you would like to take advantage of the "Take someone along for free" rules, the journey must be started together by all passengers involved.
You or another valid-ticket holder may be accompanied by up to two children under 4 years of age free of charge (ticket holder must be at least 6 years old).
If you have a one-day travelcard, you can take up to two children under 15 years of age with you.
If you have a one-day travelcardPLUS, you can take an adult and up to four children under 15 years of age with you.
In the case of one-day travelcards, an additional child can be taken with you instead of an adult, and in the case of the one-day travelcardPLUS, two additional children may travel along in place of the additional adult. Taking a dog in place of a child is permitted.
Those with a monthly travelcard, one-year pass, company ticket, and 7-day travelcard are permitted to take along one additional adult and up to 4 children under 15 years of age from Monday to Friday after 7.00 PM and all day Saturday, Sunday, and on public holidays. The same "Take someone along for free" rules apply to those with a VBN EXTRA.
These rules do not apply for those with the corresponding school-goer tickets.
