Focke-Museum Stop: Focke Museum, tram #4, #5 Description: 1,200 years of Bremen history: In the main building of the museum the history of the city is depicted. It starts with important topics in the history of Bremen: The struggle for independence, views of the city, the Bremer Haus, the River Weser as Bremen's lifeline, the automobile and silver products industries and shipbuilding in the 20th century are all treated in the form of important large-scale exhibits - from the bust of Roland to Borgward automobiles - as well as with multimedia. Gardens and parks
Höpkens Ruh Stop: Höpkens Ruh, bus #33 Description: The park was designed to create a romantic landscape of ponds, islands, hills, and groves of trees. A footpath leads up to the dyke along the "Wümmewiesen".
Rhododendron Park Stop: Bürgermeister-Spitta-Allee, tram #4, #5, bus #20, #21, Description: Different types and species of tall, evergreen rhododendrons set the tone for this park. Come in early summer and behold the park in full bloom - it's quite an experience. More than 60 years ago, the Gartenbauamt (city landscaping office, now called Stadtgrün Bremen) began planning the rhododendron park. In 1890, planted trees covered the grounds as part of a wildlife park consisting predominantly of oak trees but also including beech, ash and spruce trees. The German Rhododendron Society, founded in Bremen in 1935, takes a special interest in seeing the park develop and flourish.
Botanical Garden Stop: Horner Kirche, tram #4, #5, bus #20, #21 Description: The botanical garden is situated in the middle of the Rhododendron Park, which covers more than 46 hectares. The facility was not finished until 1950. The multitude of local flora to be seen here along with plants from other continents are a testament to the diversity of plant life on Earth. The botanical garden comprises a collection of plants arranged scientifically with over 6,500 different species. It is a particularly important institution for environmental education for school groups in Bremen.
Bürgerpark Stop: Am Stern, tram #6, #8, bus #24 Stop: Bürgerpark, bus #26/27 Description: The Bürgerpark, together with the city forest, extends over 202.5 hectares. Of the total area, 142 hectares are forest, 30 hectares are meadows and grassy areas, and 15 are water. The entire vast area has been maintained by a special Bürgerpark association for 136 years - a situation unique to Bremen. That means that this park is maintained and managed by the citizens of Bremen, without tax revenue being used.
Knoops Park Stop: Knoops Park, bus #74, #75 Description: The name "Knoops Park" brings to mind for many the Lesmona building, the popular television film "Sommer in Lesmona" and perhaps also the concert series of the same name from the German Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra. This park, unusually hilly for Bremen, does however have even more to offer, including a fascinating history. This park was integrated into the steep Lesumer Steilufer bank. From here, you have a great view of the river Lesum, the river Weser and the surrounding Bremen and Oldenburg countryside.
Neustadtswallanlagen Stop: Theater am Leibnizplatz, tram #4, #5, #6 Stop: Hochschule Bremen, tram #1, #8, bus #26, #27 Stop: Hohentorsplatz, bus #24, (#61, #62, #64) Description: The "Neustadtswallanlage" landscaped areas run from Leibnitzplatz with it's Centaur fountain all the way to the area of urban greenery "an der Piepe" with a transition to the recreational areas, Kleiner Weser and Werdersee.
Osterholz Cemetery Stop: Osterholzer Friedhof, bus #21, #29, #33, #34, #37, #40/41 Description: The Osterholz cemetery is not only currently the final resting place for over 100,000 individuals. It is also the lungs of the east side of Bremen. Next to the Bürgerpark, it is the largest park in Bremen with and has a large number of trees and diverse plant life over 80 hectares.
Links der Weser Park Stop: Norderländer Straße, tram #1, #8 Description: The dykes which extend for several kilometres along both sides of the Neue Ochtum River and the loop trails with bridges over the numerous waterways leading past fields, open water, and wooded areas are as pleasing as the richly developed flora and the many species of birds, dragonflies and amphibians. Shelters, lookout points, and resting areas make this waterside landscape all the more inviting, making it a pleasure to spend time here.
Stadtwald Stop: Munte, bus #22, #28 Stop: Kulenkampffallee, tram #8 Description: The city forest was laid out in 1906 from a donation made by Franz Schütte and remains very densely wooded. There are ponds, walking paths, forest glades and a 1.7 kilometre long "Finnbahn". From the city forest, the connection between the Bürgerpark and the Stadtwaldsee recreation area, the lake known as the "Uni-See", can be reached by crossing the bridges over the Kleine Wümme.
Weseruferpark Stop: Rablinghausen, bus #24, #61 Description: The Uferpark Rablinghausen is around 24 hectares in size. The river bank park was created on the former drainage fields of the harbour on the left side of the Weser. The Ufer Park starts with an expansive lawn, the Lankenauer Monument, seating and a playground at the Rablinghauser dyke and ends at Lankenauer Höft. This path gives you a good view of the Weser, the shipyards, the entrance of the harbour and the harbour itself. The Uferpark Rablinghausen is a park that gives you an insight into the hustle and bustle of Bremen's harbours.

Historical Sites
Haus Blomendal Stop: Bf. Blumenthal, bus #71, #74, #75, #76 Description: Around 1250, there was a Blumenthal castle, but it had to be torn down in 1305 due to the constant disputes with the citizens of Bremen. A few decades later, in 1354, the present keep was built between the Aue and the Becke.
Riensberg Cemetery Stop: Riensberg, tram #6 Stop: Friedhofstraße, tram #4, #5 Description: A number of famous individuals are buried in the Riensberg cemetery, which was designed in 1875 by Wilhelm Benque, who also created the Bürgerpark.

Schulschiff Deutschland Stop: Bf. Vegesack Train: Regionalbahn R1, bus #71, #74, #75, #76, #78/79 Description: Not far from the oldest man-made inland port in northern Europe, the "White Swan of the Lower Weser" provides insight into an era of maritime history. 86 metres in length with an over 58 metre-high mast, this tall ship can be seen from quite a distance. This last remaining fully rigged ship from German maritime history - the only training ship for commercial shipping in German ownership - is docked at the mouth of the river Lesum in the Vegesack district of Bremen.
U-Boot Bunker Valentin, Farge Stop: Rekumer Siel, bus #71 Description: This bunker was built between the summer of 1943 and March of 1945 for the construction of a new submarine. 426 metres in length and up to 97 metres wide, over a half million cubic metres of concrete were used in the construction of the bunker. More than 12,000 forced labourers worked here, 4,000 of whom lost their lives building the bunker. The submarine was never completed, however: A British bombing run ended the construction work. From the early 1960s onwards, the German Federal Navy used the bunker as a storage depot. In 1983, a memorial was erected in remembrance of the prisoners. Trips to the countryside
Hollerland Stop: Kopernikusstraße, tram #4, #4S Description: The Hollerland nature reserve is a natural low-lying grassland area typical of the lowland landscape of the Bremen basin.
Lesum Countryside Stop: Burg, bus #71, #73, #75 Description: A walk is definitely worth your while here: The river Lesum was a popular recreation area as early as the turn of the 20th century. The river was also a transportation route; Torfkähne, the traditional boats of local fishermen, coming from the Teufelsmoor would sail into the small Lesum harbour.

Recreation
Stadtwaldsee Stop: Stadtwaldsee, bus #28 Description: The Stadtwaldsee, unofficially called the "Uni-See", is located in the Stadtwald (city forest) in the Bürgerpark and encompasses an area of 37 hectares. It came into existence in 1971/72 and, being 18 - 20 metres deep, is the largest quarry lake in Bremen. In the years following, sandy beaches, lawns, swimming areas, walking paths and landscaping were added.
Sodenmattsee Stop: Am Sodenmatt, bus #57, #58 Description: This 7 hectare-lake came into being in 1960/62 as a result of the construction of the B 75 road and has an almost perfectly round shape. The Sodenmattsee has a swimming area and parking spaces for visitors.
Werdersee Stop: Kirchweg, tram #4, #5 Description: The Werdersee has a total area of 37 hectares. It is connected to the river Weser by a small canal. A swimming area and parking spaces are located near Kuhhirten. This is a popular recreational area for sailing, sculling, swimming and especially for families with children.
