Safe and comfortable with BSAG

Our customers' safety is very important to us. For this reason, we not only work very closely with the bodies responsible for public safety, we ourselves are also actively involved and undertake a considerable amount to ensure safety. All measures are of a preventative nature. We also support other schemes initiated by public bodies. As part of our scope of activity, we take on some social responsibilities with our customers' needs in mind.

Safety in the vehicles

The vast majority of BSAG's tram and bus services are carried out using vehicles consisting of a single unit. This means that the passengers and the driver have direct access to and can see all parts of the vehicle. The driver is at all times able to make radio contact with the dispatchers in the control centre, who, in turn, also know automatically the precise location of any vehicle at any point in time, thanks to a special monitoring system.

In addition, in an emergency the driver can make an emergency call to the operations centre. A direct line to the police means that they can be notified immediately.

	Safety at the stops The bus shelters are almost all covered and lit. Resulting from an expert's report on safety at the stops commissioned by BSAG, special lighting was introduced and bushes and trees were cut back to ensure better visibility. This will be taken into consideration in future when planning new bus shelters.

	Service teams To increase safety BSAG also employs staff made available by a service provider. Their presence increases safety in the vehicles and at the bus shelters. They also carry out ticket inspections and are at your service as a contact person.

Youth work

For the purpose of intensifying prevention and "trouble spot" work with young people BSAG has introduced a special post, which has a social education function, with the title "Youth and public transport". In this, the BSAG member of staff cooperates with district committees and schools. As part of this collaboration, streetworkers are deployed at certain trouble spots according to agreed schedules. Here the BSAG performs a supporting function, and actively approaches young people.
